/ Learning Objectives

The overall objective of the event is to advance knowledge of obesity as a complex, chronic disease with multiple complications and manifestations and to reinforce the role of weight management as a pathway to improvement of these.  At the end of the symposium, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize obesity as a complex, chronic disease driving multiple complications
  • Discuss the mechanisms by which body weight is regulated and by which body weight regain is promoted after weight loss
  • Relate the pathophysiologic mechanisms by which obesity drives complications, including those affecting liver, gi tract, pancreas, heart, lungs, kidney, muscle and joints, and pancreas
  • Discuss the effects of different weight management approaches (lifestyle, lifestyle + medications, bariatric surgery) and their effects on obesity complications affecting, liver, gastro intestinal tract, pancreas, heart, lungs, kidney, muscle and joints and pancreas
Attendees of this event will earn 4 SCOPE points and 16 CPD points
