Anyone in any allied healthcare profession can apply for SCOPE Certification, providing they have at least six months' practical experience managing patients with obesity. This includes doctors but also nurses, dietitians, nutritionists and many others. To demonstrate your eligibility, you should provide the following when applying for SCOPE Certification:

  • A letter from your employer, on official institutional letterhead, outlining your experience managing patients with obesity
  • A copy of your degree in a relevant field (e.g. your medical diploma) if applicable
  • Contact details of two referees, with institutional email addresses (e.g. ox.ac.uk) who we may contact to verify your experience

With the obesity rate in some countries exceeding a quarter of the population, it is assumed that six months of clinical experience involves the treatment of patients with obesity. You do not need to work in a clinic to meet the experience requirement. When applying for SCOPE Certification, you should provide the following items to allow us to verify your experience:

  • A letter from your employer, on official institutional letterhead, outlining your experience managing patients with obesity
  • A copy of your degree in a relevant field (e.g. your medical diploma) if applicable
  • Contact details of two referees, with institutional email addresses (e.g. ox.ac.uk) who we may contact to verify your experience

Yes – you can earn 12 SCOPE Points by completing our Core Learning Path (4 SCOPE points) and 16 of our free modules (8 SCOPE points). There is no requirement to attend an instructor-led course. Click here to read our guide to SCOPE Certification.

To maintain your Certification, we ask that you earn at least 1 SCOPE point (equivalent to 2 modules) and pay an admin fee of £10 annually. This is to ensure your obesity education remains up-to-date. If you have not already completed the Core Learning Path, you will need to do so to recertify.

If a module appears "stuck" after completing an assessment unsuccessfully, you should take the following steps to reset the assessment:

  1. Relaunch the module
  2. Click on the menu button in the top-left corner (the three lines)
  3. Click 'assessment'
  4. You will be taken to an 'Assessment overview' page. Click ‘retake assessment’.
  5. Click ‘Yes’ when prompted
  6. You will return to the main menu. The assessment will have been reset and you should now be able to return to the assessment section and retake it

You can access our modules by clicking 'Discover our courses'. Occasionally, the website will take a few minutes to assign the relevant modules (in the user's chosen language) to the new user, meaning the modules do not immediately appear on this page. If this happens, please wait 5-10 minutes then refresh the page and the modules should appear.

This is not a problem - as long a module appears under your 'completed courses', we know you have achieved a passing score of 80%.

SCOPE E-Learning is available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. To change your account language, click on your name in the top-right corner of the web page then click 'account preferences'. Once you have selected your chosen language, you will need to log out then log back in for the change to take effect.

Yes - our platform allows modules to be taken on tablets and mobile phones running iOS or Android. Modules can also be downloaded to take offline.

Please download the Saba Cloud app to take SCOPE on mobile devices. When prompted for a 'Site Name', you will need to enter: www.scope-elearning.org
