Welcoming three new members to the World Obesity community
Welcome to our new Members!
World Obesity Federation is delighted to welcome three new, committed organisations whose work span advocacy, education, patient empowerment, and health-system strengthening. Each brings unique strengths that enrich our global community.
PHFI is working towards building a healthier India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology, and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi and was established in 2006 as a public-private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising senior government officials, eminent Indian and international academic leaders, civil society representatives, and corporate leaders.
Through its network of Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and specialized research centers, it plays a key role in training skilled professionals, generating evidence-based solutions, and supporting national and state-level health programs. The organisation collaborates with government agencies, academic institutions, and global partners (such as WOF), to address a wide range of health challenges, including infectious diseases, ncds, and environmental health issues.
The Georgian Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Disorders is a multidisciplinary professional organization dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of obesity and related metabolic diseases in Georgia.
The Society aims to promote evidence-based clinical practice in bariatric and metabolic care by fostering collaboration between surgeons, endocrinologists, psychologists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
A key objective is the development of national standards of care aligned with international guidelines and the implementation of integrated patient-centered treatment models.
One Heart One World Association (OHOWA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing life-saving treatment and access to quality healthcare for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) in regions where specialised cardiac care is unavailable or unaffordable.
Ensuring that a child's place of birth does not determine their chance to live OHOWA are committed to connecting children with specialised cardiac care abroad and supporting families who lack financial means.
In Somaliland, many children face barriers to lifesaving healthcare, especially for conditions like congenital heart disease. OHOWA works with families, communities, and partners to ensure children receive timely treatment, while promoting maternal and child health awareness.
We welcome these organisations to the World Obesity family and look forward to collaborating with them.
World Obesity membership is open to organisations studying or advocating for prevention and treatment of obesity and related comorbidities, as well as those promoting respectful care towards people living with obesity.
