Global Patient Summit 2018
On the 10th and 11th October 2018, World Obesity Federation held it's first Global Patient Summit, bringing together an international group of patient groups and people living with obesity to explore current perceptions of obesity and participate in advocacy training for use on both a national and global platform. Over twenty representatives from fourteen countries worked in tandem with the World Obesity Federation to define next steps as national governments grapple with the obesity epidemic. In addition to networking, training and sharing of best practices, a series of recommendations have been compiled from the outcomes of this meeting.
The Patient Summit is the first step in developing a Global Patient Network and World Obesity plan to deliver a series of regional advocacy workshops and a dedicated patient web platform in 2019.
