Welcoming our first new Members of 2026
We are delighted to welcome our first new Members of 2026, including several new and returning organisations, to the World Obesity Federation community.
Our new Members come from Japan, Spain, India, France, and previously unrepresented Georgia. Each of these organisations bring unique expertise, passion, and commitment to improving global health and advancing obesity prevention, treatment, and advocacy.
JADEC was established in 1961 and represents a strong national network committed to improving metabolic health and reducing the burden of diabetes and obesity in Japan.
With approximately 10,000 members, JADEC is composed of medical personnel and people with diabetes and their families and companies and citizens invested in diabetes and prevention and health promotion. This broad membership base has helped JADEC establish itself as a leading national body for diabetes education, patient support and advocacy in Japan.
JADEC recently expanded into obesity advocacy through its new Obesity Advocacy Group and is preparing to launch an ambitious nationwide programme tied to World Obesity Day on 4 March to elevate public understanding of obesity.
The NCD Alliance in Georgia is a non-profit organisation which was established in 2018 to unite expert efforts to strengthen prevention and health promotion which have been under prioritised in Georgia.
Since its inception NCDA Georgia has been actively working on various issues related to NCDs, uniting Georgian civil society groups and professional associations to help drive multisectoral action on noncommunicable diseases, including obesity and its key risk factors.
The Alliance has shaped national policy dialogues, strengthened patient involvement, and earned international recognition, including the 2025 UNIATF Award for its innovative, community‑based approach to obesity prevention involving Diabetes Educators, Diabetologists, Endocrinologists, Nurses, Nutritionists, Paediatric Endocrinologists, Population Health Experts and Public Health Advisors.
ANPO is a patient‑led organisation advocating for the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of people living with obesity. The association works closely with health professionals to combat stigma, promote evidence‑based information, and support individuals and families across all forms and stages of obesity. ANPO’s work extends throughout the Spanish territory, with the firm purpose of bringing society closer to knowledge about obesity as a disease, its risks and the appropriate guidelines for its prevention, management and treatment.
Basic Foundation joins us as a well‑established NGO with a strong track record of improving health outcomes for vulnerable communities—especially women and children. Since its inception in 2009, the organisation has partnered with government and private entities to expand access to quality healthcare, financial assistance, and community education. Its mission aligns with our shared goals of equity, patient support, and strengthened health systems.
OMEAVE returns to World Obesity after a brief hiatus. For over 16 years, the organisation has supported people living with obesity by fostering self‑esteem, strengthening patient education, and improving awareness among healthcare providers. Its renewed membership enriches our community with patient‑centred expertise and long‑standing commitment.
We welcome these organisations to the World Obesity family and look forward to collaborating with them!
World Obesity membership is open to organisations studying or advocating for prevention and treatment of obesity and related comorbidities, as well as those promoting respectful care towards people living with obesity. If you believe your organisation would be eligible for World Obesity Federation membership, please fill out the Membership Application Form or contact membership@worldobesity.org.
