SCOPE Masterclass - China 2026
Dec 05, 2026We are delighted to announce that our upcoming SCOPE Masterclass China is taking place on 5-6, 12-13, and 19-20 December 2026.
This will be co-organised by the World Obesity Federation and the China Obesity Federation.
Obesity Landscape in China
Obesity presents one of the most significant public health challenges of the 21st century in China and the broader Asian region. It is a major risk factor for several non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and various cancers.
In recent years, the prevalence of obesity has surged across China, driven by rapid urbanisation, lifestyle changes, and shifts in dietary habits. This event aims to educate a diverse audience - including healthcare professionals, researchers, public health workers - on clinical approaches to obesity care tailored to the Chinese context.
The comprehensive agenda includes discussions on the etiology and pathophysiology of obesity, nutritional, physical and psychological assessments, dietary interventions, pharmacotherapy, metabolic and bariatric surgery, etc - among other key topics, ensuring a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to support people living with obesity.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the Masterclass, participants will be able to:
- Describe obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease and conduct structured assessment, staging and diagnosis, including complications and comorbidities
- Address weight stigma and raise the topic of weight sensitively and effectively with patients
- Develop individualised management plans integrating nutrition, physical activity and behavioural approaches
