Harold's Biography

Dr. Bays is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association, Fellow of The Obesity Society, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Fellow of the National Lipid Association, and Fellow of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology.

Dr. Bays is the Chief Science Officer for the Obesity Medicine Association, member of the Board of Trustees of the Obesity Medicine Association, and member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology. In 2005, Dr. Bays was the first to describe and publish how “sick fat” (adiposopathy) contributes to metabolic disease. Since 2013, Dr. Bays has served as medical writer for the Obesity Medicine Association Obesity Algorithm.
