Global Obesity Observatory updates

NewsGlobal Obesity Observatory updates

The data team have been busy updating the Global Obesity Observatory.

These last few months we have provided updates in over 50 countries including Algeria, Belize, Bhutan, Bosnia, Botswana, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cote d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guyana, Iceland, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kosovo, Kyrgyz Republic, Liberia, Mauritania, Serbia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Uganda, Zimbabwe and ALL countries within the European Union and the UK.

Additionally, we have been very fortunate to receive funding to translate our new Global Obesity Observatory graphics into all official EU languages, and we hope to give our members/SCOPE users the opportunity to view these pages first. We would like to invite you to apply to review the pages and offer feedback, and in return we can provide you with complimentary access to either access the SCOPE Core Learning Path or SCOPE Childhood Obesity: From Diagnosis to Treatment module. If you would be interested in a first view, please contact us at obesity@worldobesity.org. Please note that we ask for your native tongue to be one of the official EU languages and we can only accept one reviewer per language.

Over the coming weeks, we will be improving and expanding our presentation map portfolio. There will be a wider selection of downloadable flat maps presenting data from all areas of the database, including general overweight/obesity prevalence, drivers of obesity, obesity-related comorbidities and more. Keep checking in on the website for updates!

If you have not yet had the opportunity to view our Global Obesity Observatory, please do visit and explore! It is constantly being updated and we always welcome feedback from our members and friends. Equally, if you know of obesity data that we do not yet present, please get in touch.
