News2025 in review: Mexican Society of Nutrition and Endocrinology (SMNE)

The Mexican Society of Nutrition and Endocrinology (SMNE) has had an impactful year, launching new clinical practice guidelines and hosting the international forum, FIDOL 2025.

SMNE has developed a strong national presence in Mexico, supported by an expanding professional community and specialized workgroups. Founded in 1959, the Society has grown into one of the leading scientific organisations in the country in the fields of endocrinology, nutrition, and metabolism.

  • 1500 Total Members, representing endocrinologists, internists, nutrition specialists, researchers, and allied health professionals across Mexico.
  • 754 Active Members, all up to date with their annual membership and actively participating in academic, clinical, and educational programmes.

  • 14 Regional Chapters, enabling decentralised scientific activities, promoting regional leadership, and ensuring academic representation throughout the country.

This structure enables the SMNE to maintain a robust academic footprint and support collaborations with national and international organisations.

Our mandate is to ensure that the prevention, diagnosis, and care of endocrine and nutritional diseases are delivered with the highest standards of quality, scientific rigor, and excellence.

Highlights of 2025

This year, SMNE held a successful international forum in Mexico City, and formally presented new clinical practice guidelines for the management of obesity in adults.

FIDOL 2025

In July, the International Forum on Diabetes, Lipids, and Obesity (FIDOL) was held in Mexico City, bringing together 557 participants from diverse clinical and academic disciplines.

The programme delivered 19 hours of high-level educational content, consolidating FIDOL as one of the leading national events in metabolic health, and strengthening SMNE’s collaborative efforts in diabetes, lipidology, and obesity.

This forum highlights both the growing interest in metabolic diseases in Mexico and SMNE’s capacity to convene large-scale scientific events.
