In spite of the difficulties caused by COVID-19, with Hong Kong Association for the Study of Obesity (HKASO) members being occupied in the treatment of the pandemic, the Association was able to organise an activity on 4 March as part of World Obesity Day 2022.

HKASO published a World Obesity Day book under the shared slogan of 'Everybody Needs to Act', featuring contributions from healthcare professionals, dietitians, and sports education specialists, regarding the perils of obesity and discussions on the ways in which to combat obesity during the pandemic.

As stated in the introduction to the work, 'the pandemic has lasted for nearly two years and the problem of obesity in Hong Kong has become increasingly serious', being of 'major alarm to the health of Hong Kong people'.

Sections were dedicated to obesity and coronary pneumonia, links between obesity and kidney disease, heart disease, bariatric surgery, as well as a series of weight loss exercises and diet recommendations in times of COVID-19.

The publication was shared on social media networks, and was well received by the general public.
