Ellie Needs

Ellie has nearly 20 years' experience in healthcare, sports and scientific communications.

With a background in linguistics, she began her career as an editor in STM publishing before moving into the world of sport. After several years as a magazine editor, she expanded into brand management and strategic communications, developing expertise in translating complex topics into clear, engaging messaging.

Ellie joined the World Obesity Federation in 2014 and now leads the organisation’s Communications team. She oversees global communications strategy and channels, works to strengthen the World Obesity brand, and leads major international campaigns including World Obesity Day, helping to elevate the global conversation on obesity and drive greater awareness and action.
