The World Obesity Federation and the China Obesity Federation are co-hosting the third annual SCOPE School in Beijing, which will be held prior to the China Obesity Congress (COC).
This event responds to the rising prevalence of obesity across China. This event addresses the growing obesity epidemic in China — reduced physical activity in cities, increased processed food consumption, and cultural shifts toward sedentary behaviours. As a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and various cancers, obesity requires urgent and context-specific clinical attention. This programme brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, media professionals, and individuals with lived experience to explore holistic, multidisciplinary strategies for obesity care.
Through expert-led sessions delivered in Mandarin with English translation, the agenda covers the biology and pathobiology of obesity, psychological and dietary interventions, pharmacotherapy, and surgical approaches — ensuring participants gain practical, evidence-based insights tailored to the Chinese clinical landscape.
