World Food Day (WFD), one of the most celebrated days in the UN calendar is upon us!
Coming up this month on October 16th is World Food Day. Led by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Day is one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar.
This year, World Food Day calls for action across sectors to make healthy and sustainable diets affordable and accessible to everyone. At the same time, it calls on everyone to start thinking about what we eat. World Food Day is an opportunity to make healthier eating and #ZeroHunger a way of life. Everyone is welcome to contribute – farmers, businesses, government or simply those willing to make a change.
World Obesity Federation (WOF) is proud to support the work of FAO and as mentioned earlier in the year WOF and FAO have officially agreed to share common objectives regarding sustainable food systems for healthy diets and the prevention of malnutrition in all its forms.
There are a selection of World Food Day events, including promotional activities that have been organised worldwide. Moreover, you can plan your own #WorldFoodDay event or take part in a Poster contest organised by the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
