Maximo Maislos

Maximo Maislos graduated in 1973 with a M.D. (Honors) from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo in Mendoza, Argentina. From 1973 to 1976 he was resident in internal medicine at the Hospital Ferroviario in Mendoza and then moved to Israel where he was resident in Internal Medicine at the Soroka University Medial Centre in Beer Sheva from 1976 to 1980. From 1979 to 1980 he was a Fellow at the Lipid Research Laboratory at the Hadassah Medical Centre of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1980 he was Board Certified in Internal Medicine. From 1983 to 1985 he worked as Fellow in the field of endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition at the Metabolic Unit within the Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont in Burlington, U.S.A.

Dr. Maximo Maislos is currently the head of the Atherosclerosis and Metabolism Unit of the Department of Medicine of the Soroka University Medical Center. Besides he is a Senior Lecturer for Medicine at the Ben Gurion University School of Health Sciences as well as the director of the Western Negev Mobile Diabetes Care Program. He is also the head of the Diabetes Prevention Committee at (Ministry of Health) the Israeli National Council on Diabetes and the President of the Israeli Society for Research and Treatment of Obesity. The Specialist Certification of Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE) programme of the Education and Management Task Force and the International Association for the Study of Obesity appointed him as a European Fellow. Furthermore, he is the current EASO Vice-President for the Southern Region. Dr. Maximo Maislos is regularly invited to hold lectures in Israel, Europe, South America and the US. His scientific and research interests are in metabolism, obesity and diabetes and he reviews various journals in this field.
